Applications are accepted after the published priority date for each term, but for guaranteed consideration of admission please submit the application and associated materials by the priority date.

To ensure adequate time for consideration of your application and for consideration for funding, apply well in advance of your desired starting date. Nine months to a year is not too early to apply.

UTA considers your SAT scores and a better than average academic record to determine admission. Please refer to the chart below for minimum admission requirements.

Submit documents to the Office of Admissions by mail or in person.

  • Submit your completed official secondary school (high school) transcripts, diplomas, certificates, and/or national test examination scores as appropriate for the educational system in your country by mail in a sealed envelope. You must possess the equivalent of a U.S. high school graduation. Transcripts older than 6 months will not be accepted.
  • Submit your official SAT scores directly from the testing agency. These scores must be received before an admission decision can be made.
  • Submit official college transcript/marksheets for all university coursework you may have taken in a sealed envelope. Transcripts/marksheets older than six months will not be accepted.
  • Submit official TOEFL test scores if you are from a non-native English speaking country. The minimum acceptable TOEFL score is 550 for the paper based test, 213 for the computer based test, or 79 on the internet based test.
  • Transcripts/marksheets not issued in English must be accompanied by an exact word-for-word original English translation bearing the original university or translation agency attestation.

However, it is important to apply well in advance of your intended start date to be eligible for program-specific funding opportunities such as assistantships and fellowships. Keep in mind that departmental application processing times vary greatly and some programs require applications up to one year in advance.

Admission to graduate programs at UTA is competitive. Each academic department sets its own admission requirements and makes independent admission decisions.

Scholarships and Financial Assistance

UTA participates aid programs that offer a variety of types of financial assistance.

Freshman Scholarships

  • UTA’s general scholarship program for freshman students includes generous awards ranging from $1,000 to $10,000 annually, depending on your academic qualifications. If you are admitted before the scholarship deadline you will automatically be considered for general academic scholarships. If you receive a general academic scholarship your non-resident tuition may be waived.

Transfer Scholarships

  • International undergraduate transfer students who are transferring from a U.S. institution can also earn scholarships through our general scholarship program. These award amounts vary depending on your academic qualifications. If you are admitted before the scholarship deadline you will automatically be considered for general academic scholarships. If you receive a general academic scholarship your non-resident tuition may be waived.
